Maccy for Windows? Here is the honest answer

There is no Maccy for Windows. Maccy is a Mac app, and a very good one. If you also work on a Windows PC or Chromebook, or want the same clipboard history everywhere, you need something that runs on more than macOS.

Maccy facts

Maccy is a lightweight, keyboard-first clipboard manager for macOS. It is open source under the MIT license (GitHub) and needs macOS Sonoma 14 or later. It is free to download from GitHub or Homebrew, and it is also sold on the Mac App Store for a one-time $9.99, which supports the developer. (Checked October 23, 2026.)

One safety note from Maccy's own README: maccyapp.net and maccyapp.com are not official and have been used to spread malware. The official site is maccy.app.

If you use only a Mac and like Maccy, stay with it.

Your options

Windows only: Ditto or Win+V

Ditto is the closest Windows equivalent: free and open source. Windows also has a built-in history on Win+V, limited to 25 items and cleared on restart except pinned items. See our Ditto page and Win+V explained.

Mac and Windows (and Chromebook): a browser extension

A browser extension runs the same on every desktop OS. Clipboard History Pro works in Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Use it next to Maccy on the Mac, and on its own on the PC. With Pro, the history syncs between them.

Use both

You do not have to choose. A common setup:

  1. Keep Maccy on your Mac for system-wide history.
  2. Install Clipboard History Pro in your browser on the Mac and the Windows PC.
  3. Turn on Pro sync so text you copy in the browser on one machine is in the history on the other.
  4. Turn the text you type every day into text shortcuts.
